THE STRANDS
You don’t need to figure out sustainability on your own, because we have mapped the whole journey
One of the greatest barriers to sustainability progress is not a lack of ambition. It is the absence of a clear, logical route that organisations can follow from wherever they are today to wherever they want to be.
Our entire approach is built around exactly this: a structured, integrated model that takes you from awareness all the way to net zero, with sustainability running throughout and organisational prosperity as the destination.
Each strand is delivered in two ways. We train your people first and then, if you want help putting what they have learned into practice, our consulting service supports the implementation. You do not have to start at the beginning, because you can join at the junction that fits where your organisation is today. Professor Ven can also speak to your organisation about any strand.
01
SUSTAINABILITY AWARENESS
Where every journey begins
Sustainable transformation starts with understanding. Before any strategy can be implemented, your board, middle managers and everyone on the shop floor need the knowledge, language and conviction to make sustainability a genuine priority, because awareness shapes behaviour. That understanding covers all three pillars of sustainability: economic issues such as corruption and taxes, environmental issues, and social issues such as training and data protection. Many organisations are starting from zero, and that is a completely valid starting point. Our Sustainability Awareness Training builds the foundation that everything else depends on.
02
SUSTAINABILITY AND ESG REPORTING
Identifying where you are
Once your organisation understands sustainability, the next step is to measure and report on your current performance. As an ISSB Training Partner, we train your board and technical team to implement IFRS S1 and S2, and our consulting supports the implementation, including data collection and reporting systems. We help you identify your material social, environmental and economic issues, measure your greenhouse gas emissions, assess your climate-related risks and opportunities, and communicate your performance credibly. Transparent reporting builds trust and accountability, and it answers the question: where are we now?
03
SUSTAINABILITY COSTING AND APPRAISAL
Making the financial case
Identifying an issue is one thing, but before you can fix it you need to know what it will cost and whether it makes financial sense. We work out what the solution involves, what it will cost, how much you will save or gain, over what period, and what the payback period is. For a move to solar, that might mean a system costing one million dollars with a payback period of four or five years. The same approach applies to governance issues, training and new systems. The result is a costed case you can take to a lender: this is the problem, this is what it will cost to fix, and this is how much better off we will be.
04
SUSTAINABLE FINANCE
Funding the transition
Identifying and costing what needs to change is one thing. Having the capital to do it is another. Many organisations reach this stage and find that the financial case for sustainability is compelling, but the funding mechanisms are unfamiliar. Our Sustainable Finance service helps you identify the right green loans, grants and blended finance, approach banks with a properly costed case, and access finance on the most favourable terms available. We call it sustainable finance rather than climate finance because climate finance is for environmental issues, whereas sustainable finance covers everything to do with sustainability, including employee training, governance and data protection.
05
MESGIRO
Making change operational
With awareness, reporting, costing and finance in place, the work of implementing real sustainability improvements begins. Mesgiro is where you manage your environmental, social and governance impacts, risks and opportunities. That can mean reducing emissions, improving energy and resource efficiency, strengthening governance, or addressing social issues such as training and data protection, and embedding sustainability into the day-to-day operations of your organisation. We help you find the right specialists for the work rather than stretching ourselves across every discipline, and we are putting together a list of approved providers, such as solar panel installers. This is where strategy becomes measurable reality.
06
NET ZERO
Your verified commitment to the future
Where your issues are environmental, the final strand is a credible, science-based net zero commitment, verified by the Science Based Targets initiative and aligned with the 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement. This is not a pledge. It is an internationally recognised commitment covering all greenhouse gases across your entire value chain, with a clear and costed route to achieve it. We measure your emissions across scopes 1, 2 and 3, help you reduce them to the bare minimum, and set a reasonable rate of reduction to reach net zero across all three scopes before 2050. You cannot be net zero for one scope alone. Net zero gives your work a destination, a point where you can say you have arrived, and from there the task is to maintain it.
THE DESTINATION
Sustainability and organisational prosperity
Sustainability runs throughout the journey, and once you reach net zero it is embedded in everything you do. That is where organisational prosperity happens: stronger performance, greater resilience, competitiveness, inspired people, sustainable growth and enduring value.
Reaching the destination does not mean standing still. Maintaining net zero means reviewing your progress and strengthening your reporting year on year, and organisations that commit to this journey build the kind of resilience and reputation that delivers lasting value.
Sustainability is the pathway. Organisational prosperity is the outcome.
We guide. We transform. We deliver prosperity.
