Why sustainability and ESG reporting matters

Reporting is how you identify the issues your organisation needs to address. It measures your impacts across all three pillars of sustainability: social, environmental and economic. The issues you identify then become the starting point for costing, finance and implementation further along the highway.

For example, reporting may show that your organisation depends on electricity that is unreliable and expensive and, where it is generated from coal, a source of greenhouse gas emissions. Once that issue is identified, you can begin to work out what it would cost to fix.

In Zimbabwe, listed companies, public-owned enterprises, and organisations with a high environmental impact, such as those in mining and farming, are expected to start reporting using IFRS S1 and S2 from 2028. That is why demand for reporting training is vital.

Where does it fit in

Once your people are aware, the next step is to measure. This strand helps you identify your social, environmental and economic impacts, disclose them, and build accountability through transparent reporting.

How we help you implement IFRS S1 and S2

Once we have trained you, the question is how you are going to implement what you have learned. Our consulting service covers that implementation, including data collection and the systems you need in order to report.

Our reporting consultancy covers:

  • gap analysis;
  • preparation;
  • board evaluation;
  • stakeholder engagement;
  • sustainability reporting compliance with IFRS standards; and
  • greenhouse gas measurement.

For reporting systems, we have agreed a collaboration with a specialist in this area, so that organisations we train can move straight on to implementation with the right systems in place.

Where sustainability and ESG reporting sits on the highway

Sustainability and ESG reporting is strand 02 of The Highway to Organisational Prosperity Through Sustainability. It follows Sustainability Awareness. Once you have identified your issues, the next step is Sustainability Costing and Appraisal, where you work out what it will cost to address them and what you will gain.

You do not have to start at the beginning. You can join the highway at the junction that fits where your organisation is today, build capability, and advance towards organisational prosperity. Sustainability runs throughout the journey, and organisational prosperity is the destination.

Book a consultation to discuss implementing IFRS S1 and S2, or see our training services for reporting courses for your board and technical team.
