Sustainability is built for the challenge Africa faces right now

Sustainability in Zimbabwe

Tashapa Consultancy was established in direct response to one of the most urgent and consequential challenges of our time: the accelerating pressure on organisations across Zimbabwe and Africa to transition toward sustainable, resilient, and future-fit business models.

The global context is not abstract. According to the World Health Organisation, climate change already contributes to humanitarian emergencies through heatwaves, floods, and extreme weather events. An estimated 3.6 billion people currently live in areas highly vulnerable to climate change, the majority of them in developing nations. By 2050, the economic damage alone is projected to reach billions of dollars annually, with the burden falling disproportionately on countries that are already facing the greatest development pressures.

That gap is why Tashapa exists.

Zimbabwe, like much of the region, sits at the intersection of these pressures. Energy supply challenges, water scarcity, shifting agricultural conditions, and an increasingly demanding global investment and regulatory environment are not future concerns, they are present realities that affect operating costs, access to finance, and long-term business viability today.

And yet, when we began having conversations with business leaders across the country, we found the same consistent gap: awareness. Not a lack of ambition or commitment but a genuine lack of access to clear, practical, credible guidance on what sustainability means, how it applies to their specific organisation, and what the concrete financial and commercial benefits of acting look like.

That gap is why Tashapa exists.

We built a consultancy specifically designed to meet organisations where they are: beginning with education and awareness, progressing through structured reporting and climate finance, and advancing all the way to credible, internationally recognised Net Zero commitments. We believe that sustainability and financial success are not in tension. Properly implemented, sustainability is the most powerful long-term growth strategy available to any organisation. Reduced energy costs. Lower-rate finance. Stronger stakeholder relationships. Improved operational efficiency. Enhanced reputation in local and international markets.

Our approach is not theoretical. In November 2025, Tashapa’s leadership guided a Zimbabwean organisation to become the first in the country to have its Net Zero commitment formally approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). That milestone is a proof of concept for what is possible when organisations commit to a structured, science-based sustainability journey.

We are building that pathway for every organisation we work with, from listed corporates to SMEs, from financial institutions to public sector entities. Our mission is to ensure that no organisation in Zimbabwe or across the region is left behind simply because they did not know where to start.
